What began as a simple woodie restoration quickly morphed into a sophisticated and ambitious project. Peggy and Bob found us through Michael Louis the owner of Miniguy.com over a year ago. Bob said he wanted the best woodie ever for his lovely wife Peggy’s birthday. Among the list of requirements were the added reliability and power of a Honda Vtec, an automatic transmission, premium leather upholstery, hand shaped ash wheel arches, custom mahogany roof rack and surf board. That didn’t seem like a tall order but it proved to be quite a handful to create. The Honda automatic Transmission is larger than the manual which meant we needed to fabricate something to accommodate it. We actually built two cars trying to accomplish the request. The first car was prepped for all but the Automatic trans, but will be a fine donor car for our next woodie. If you are interested in a Super Cooper Woodie let us know. After overcoming countless roadblocks it finally came to fruition just in time for the annual woodie show in San Clemente. In the end the final product came out quite well and we are all proud of her.
